About Our Firm
We Help You Focus on What Matters
Your loved ones. Your goals. Your security and future.
At the Law Office of Amy Kuronen, PLLC, we help you manage important aspects of life by focusing on estate planning, probate, and elder law. Solid planning and effective legal representation in these areas benefit you and those about whom you care most. Let us help you and the important people in your life by focusing on what matters.
Estate Planning and Probate
Planning to Achieve Your Goals

You’re never too young to start Estate Planning, as Amy discussed on WDIO’s The Life with Baihly Warfield.
Careful planning assures that your wishes will be carried out as you think best. Effective estate planning resolves two concerns that many of us share:
- How can I best provide for the well-being of my loved ones when I am no longer here?
- What can I do now to ensure that my assets are properly handled following my death?
Estate planning establishes mechanisms to efficiently transfer your property to the people and/or organizations you designate. For clients with young children or a loved one with a disability, estate planning names someone to be responsible for their care. Depending on your circumstances, estate planning may involve putting strategies in place to avoid probate, protect assets and minimize taxes.
Part of an estate plan also may involve spelling out directions about your finances and medical care in the event that, due to an accident or illness, you become unable to make or express decisions on your behalf.
All client situations are unique. Estate planning options are numerous and, at times, complex. To develop a custom estate plan appropriate for you, we will discuss your circumstances, needs and wishes. After thoroughly reviewing options, I will recommend a plan and draft the documents to achieve your goals.
Probate and Trust Administration
Efficient legal representation eases the burden of estate administration.
After someone passes away, certain legal steps ensure the transfer of assets and the wrapping up of a person’s affairs. If you have been named as a personal representative or are otherwise responsible, you may be unsure of what you’re supposed to do to probate the estate.
From filing the initial paperwork to closing the estate, I can help you administer an estate of any size or complexity. I will represent you with diligence, efficiency and compassion.
We work with clients in these areas:
- Wills (simple or complex)
- Trusts (revocable or irrevocable, A/B marital and family trusts, life insurance trusts and charitable trusts)
- Powers of attorney
- Health care directives
- Gifting strategies
- Guardianships and conservatorships
- Probate and trust administration
Elder Law
Preparing for Your Future
Solid legal counsel eases your concerns and resolves your uncertainties. Clients seeking an elder law attorney often face significant life changes, many with long-range financial implications. With competent and timely legal advice, you can take steps to provide for future needs while possibly preserving assets for loved ones.
We represent clients in the following matters:
- Planning for incapacity / disability or special needs
- Powers of attorney
- Health care directives
- Guardianships and conservatorships
- Medical assistance / MA / medicaid planning
- Long-term care planning
- Asset protection
My Commitment to Clients
Competence, Value and Exceptional Service
You have many choices when you hire an attorney. Be choosy. I welcome your high expectations.
Your estate attorney’s advice is the key to your peace of mind and satisfaction with your plans for security and loved ones’ well-being. Your attorney must have the experience and skills to address your needs while also making you feel comfortable discussing concerns and asking questions.
Exceptional client service is a hallmark of my firm. I value my clients’ trust and make sure my work reflects that. I offer complimentary initial consultations so you can see that commitment and determine if I’m the right fit for you.
Once retained, I make the following commitments:
Expert Representation
By concentrating my practice on estate planning, probate and elder law, I have developed expertise and stay ahead of changes and trends in the law as well as client needs. If you have questions about another area of law, I am happy to refer you to an expert colleague.
Value
Technology provides small law firms with access to resources and services that once were cost-effective for only large law firms. I offer the highest quality of legal services with a personal touch and reasonable charges.
Effective Communication
You want an estate planning attorney who listens and who understands your concerns. You want answers to your questions. You want to know about options to meet your needs. You want greater certainty and few surprises with the legal process.
In short, you want good communication with your lawyer. When retained, I commit to:
- Thoroughly discuss your concerns
- Specifically identify your goals
- Clearly describe options, strategies and legal procedures
- Promptly respond to your questions
- Regularly provide updates
Convenience and Flexibility
I provide both in-person and virtual appointments. If you prefer to meet in person, my firm offers a secure, confidential meeting space, outside of downtown Duluth, with access to free and convenient parking. I can meet you during the day, in the evening and on weekends to accommodate your schedule.

Helping You Define, Plan and Prepare
Experience Matters
A native of southern Minnesota, I moved north and settled, happily, in Duluth after graduating from law school. For more than 25 years, I have loved living and working in Duluth.
My experience includes public and private law practice. I also have worked in banking as a trust officer. While in banking, I returned to school to increase my understanding of investments, tax issues and other personal finance matters. Altogether, my professional experience in estate planning, wealth management, trust administration and probate exceeds15 years.
Now, my focus is helping clients define, plan and prepare – for themselves and their loved ones. I work closely with clients at different stages of life. They have unique circumstances, concerns and priorities, including saving for college, preparing for retirement, moving on after a divorce and leaving a legacy for loved ones. The one constant is a need for careful planning.
It’s a privilege when clients trust me with to provide for their security and the well-being of those who matter most.
